The Center advances research in health literacy and health communication and translates that research into education and community action that improves health outcomes for all.

Services and Technologies Offered
The Center conducts multi-methodological, interdisciplinary research projects, partnering with academic colleagues, community organizations and government agencies. Faculty also consult and train on health literacy, plain (clear) language and cultural competency. Faculty teach courses in health communication and health literacy, and assist with curriculum in health literacy. Faculty and staff conduct all phases of health literacy research, as well as program and interventions design and evaluation. The Center specializes in health literacy best practices dissemination and adoption, integrating health literacy into public health and clinical activities, organizational health literacy assessments, and the evaluation and redesign of health materials.
