DLAR Imaging Core
Overview
The Department of Laboratory Animal Resources Imaging Core (DLARIC) provides state-of-the-art bioimaging equipment and irradiation services to researchers at the University of Maryland, College Park.
Located within the Clark Hall vivarium, DLARIC is a shared multimodal bioimaging resource designed to strengthen the University’s research enterprise through advanced technology, imaging expertise, comprehensive training, and scientific support. The facility serves as a centralized hub for small animal, tissue, and cell-based imaging studies.
Monday–Friday, 8:00 AM – 4:30 PM
Instruments are available during these hours, and the DLARIC management team is available for user training, assistance, and consultation.
DLARIC provides researchers with access to high-performance imaging systems suitable for live animals, tissues, and cell-based samples. Available services include:
Training on all imaging equipment
Assistance with imaging experimental design
Irradiation services for live animals, tissues, and cells
Technical expertise and consultation
For detailed service requests or questions, contact the imaging core at dlaric@umd.edu.
Imaging Modalities
DLARIC offers an array of cutting-edge in vivo, ex vivo, and in vitro imaging modalities, including:
In vivo bioluminescence and fluorescence imaging with integrated 2D/3D optical tomography.
Ultra high-frequency ultrasound for high-resolution imaging and quantification.
Two-photon fluorescence imaging for deep-tissue visualization (Olympus Discovery Center supported).
A mobile fluoroscopy system offering real-time high-resolution X-ray imaging.
Trimodal PET/SPECT/CT system for 3D quantitative imaging of radiotracers, bone, and soft tissue.
Precise radiation delivery for cells, tissues, and small animals (up to rabbits).
