University of Maryland, College Park President Darryll J. Pines and University of Maryland, Baltimore President Bruce E. Jarrell sent the following email to the campus community today:

COLLEGE PARK – “Printing Hate,” an unprecedented collaborative project led by the University of Maryland’s Howard Center for Investigative Journalism, on Wednesday was awarded one of two medals issued to exemplary projects by the organization Investigative Reporters & Editors.

The U.S. House of Representatives’ vote on Friday to legalize cannabis exemplifies the growing acceptance of the drug both for medical and recreational use, but much remains to be understood about how it affects health—including how it might impact the cardiovascular system when smoked.
