Animal Care Emergencies
Qualified laboratory animal science professionals provide daily care to all university animals, including weekends and holidays.
Emergency veterinary care is available 24/7, including weekends and holidays by contacting the On-call Veterinarian at 301-458-5047.
Animal Facility Emergencies
University of Maryland Facilities Management is responsible for UMD’s physical campus, to include animal research and animal housing spaces. For routine animal facility or animal facility infrastructure issues, please contact FM either by email or through the UMD FM online work order system.
For urgent matters or animal facility or infrastructure emergencies, call the Customer Response Center (CRC) at 301-405-2222. After contacting the CRC, please also notify the On-Call Veterinarian of the facility emergency by phoning 301-458-5047.
Other Emergencies
For other emergencies on campus, including gas smells, smoke or unusual odors, suspicious package, suspicious person, etc., should be reported to Public Safety – call 911 from a campus phone, or 301-405-3333.
