  • MPower Professor Profile: Mary Ann Jabra-Rizk, Ph.D.

    In November of 2022, University of Maryland, College Park President Darryll J. Pines and University of Maryland, Baltimore President Bruce E. Jarrell named six professors to the second cohort of MPower Professors. This award from the University of Maryland Strategic Partnership: MPowering the State (MPower) recognizes, incentivizes, and fosters collaboration between faculty from each campus who are working together to solve the grand challenges of our time.

  • BSOS, UMD Staff Host International Workshop for University Research Administrators

    BSOS Executive Director of Research Management Rebecca Hunsaker and Beth Brittan-Powell, director of UMD’s Conflict of Interest Office led an international workshop in August. The workshop focused on providing best practices for helping international organizations navigate projects with the National Institutes of Health. Hunsaker and Brittan-Powell provided insight and best practices for a group of 15 professionals, including attendees from Italy, the United Kingdom, Ireland, Australia, Belgium, Sweden, Kenya and Colombia.

    A summer marked by wildfires, smoke, high heat and extreme weather isn’t enough to bridge the partisan divide between Democrats and Republicans on climate change, a new University of Maryland poll with The Washington Post finds.
