Limited Submissions
Understanding Limited Submissions
Some funding agencies place restrictions on the number of proposals an institution may submit to a particular program. These opportunities are called limited submissions. If a university submits more than the allowed number of proposals, all submissions may be disqualified. Therefore, it’s crucial to follow the internal application and peer review process to ensure proper university authorization. In some cases, approval may also be required at the campus, school, or department level.
Important Note: Obtaining a limited submission nomination does not mean that all compliance and responsiveness requirements for the proposal have been met. The Limited Submission (LS) process is designed to establish a fair process for faculty to compete for the opportunity. The LS process focuses on ensuring that proposals are competitive, but it is not a comprehensive review of all compliance issues. It is the first step in a multi-step process, and further review will occur as part of the proposal development and routing process.
InfoReady
UMD uses InfoReady, a web-based platform that allows faculty and staff to browse and apply for limited submission funding opportunities, seed grants, and faculty incentive programs. Reviews and notifications about application status are also managed through this system.
