COLLEGE PARK, Md -- The University of Maryland has been awarded a 5-year, $2M grant from the U.S. Small Business Administration (SBA) to launch a new Mid-Atlantic Veterans Business Outreach Center in College Park, Md. The Center will provide resources and support to aspiring veteran entrepreneurs and veteran-owned small businesses, serving as a regional epicenter for training, consulting and technical assistance.

Yifei Mo and Liangbing Hu, both professors in the University of Maryland (UMD) Department of Materials Science and Engineering (MSE), in collaboration with research teams at Northwestern and Lehigh Universities, have received funding from the National Science Foundation (NSF) in the amount of $1.8 million for their project entitled "Accelerated Data-Driven Discovery of Ion-Conducting Materials."

The University System of Maryland (USM) Board of Regents has appointed Darryll J. Pines, Ph.D., as the 34th president of the University of Maryland, College Park (UMD).Pines has spent 25 years on the College Park campus and is dean of the university’s A. James Clark School of Engineering. His appointment is effective July 1, 2020.

The goal of the U.S.-Israel Energy Center is to promote energy security and economic development through the research and development of innovative technologies.
