The University of Maryland is a site for a nationwide study on child development, known as the Healthy Brain and Child Development (HBCD) Study, the largest long-term research study of early brain and child development in the United States.

The University of Maryland celebrated the achievements of more than 250 faculty scholars and researchers at the 2025 Maryland Research Excellence Celebration on March 27.The event, which was held at the Hotel at the University of Maryland and co-hosted by the Division of Research and the Office of the Provost, honored the distinct and notable accomplishments of University of Maryland researchers and recognized the impacts and outcomes of their work.
