  • UMD Smith and Deloitte Launch Initiative to Expand AI Study and Outreach Opportunities

    The Robert H. Smith School of Business at the University of Maryland (UMD) has joined Deloitte to launch the Deloitte Initiative for AI and Learning (DIAL), an artificial intelligence (AI) research initiative to help expand learning and development opportunities for faculty and students across the university’s various colleges. UMD, Maryland’s flagship educational institution, is a recognized leader in AI, data analytics and research. This new initiative leverages Deloitte’s experience as a leader in AI-enabled services and solutions for private and public sector clients.

    COLLEGE PARK, Md – The University of Maryland’s Office of Undergraduate Studies’ Academic Achievement Programs, was awarded a $1.65M grant renewal from the Department of Education to continue funding for the Ronald E. McNair Post-Baccalaureate Achievement Program.

    In November of 2021, University of Maryland, College Park President Darryll J. Pines and University of Maryland, Baltimore President Bruce E. Jarrell named eight professors as the inaugural MPower Professors. This award from the University of Maryland Strategic Partnership: MPowering the State (MPower) recognizes, incentivizes, and fosters faculty collaborations between the College Park and Baltimore campuses.
