University of Maryland Associate Clinical Professor Candace Maddox Moore received a prestigious Fulbright U.S. Scholar Program award from the U.S. State Department to study in Ghana during the 2021-2022 academic year. She will be conducting research and teaching at the University of Cape Coast, as part of her project, “Culturally Conscious Pedagogy and Practice: Collaborating to Inform Ghanaian Higher Education COVID-19 Response.”

COLLEGE PARK, Md -- The University of Maryland has been awarded a 5-year, $2M grant from the U.S. Small Business Administration (SBA) to launch a new Mid-Atlantic Veterans Business Outreach Center in College Park, Md.

The Milky Way and many other galaxies in the universe formed through collisions and mergers with other galaxies. These collisions determine the shape and composition of the resulting galaxy and trigger the formation of stars and new black holes. But they are violent, high-energy events that can be difficult to study. Untangling what happens when galaxies merge helps scientists understand the forces that shape the universe.
