Four Clark School faculty members—Shelby Bensi, Gregg Duncan, Katrina Groth, and Katharina Maisel—are recipients of CAREER grants, the National Science Foundation (NSF)’s most prestigious award in support of early-career faculty.

An international group of scientists is calling for a “paradigm shift” in how we combat airborne pathogens such as COVID-19. The 40 researchers from 14 countries, including Dr. Donald K. Milton from the University of Maryland School of Public Health, are demanding universal recognition that infections can be prevented by improving indoor ventilation systems.

IN 2020, UMD was awarded a two-year, $500,000 grant by the Andrew W. Mellon Foundation to launch an interdisciplinary African Diaspora studies research seminar. Led by Dr. Sharon Harley, the seminar, hosted by the Department of African American Studies, “Race/Ethnicity and Gender Identity in a Shifting Cultural, and Racial Climate: African/Black Diaspora Academic and Public Discourse” continues virtually.
