IRB Manager

Andrea Dragan joined the IRB Office in 2011 and has served as the IRB Manager since December 2015. She is responsible for the daily operations of the IRB and the IRB Committee, and also assists with the Quality Assurance program. She also enjoys providing education and lectures across campus about the history of the IRB and IRB process. She is a Certified IRB Professional (CIP), and received the 2018 Outstanding Staff Award from the UMD Division of Research. She earned her Master of Public Health degree in Behavioral and Community Health from the University of Maryland School of Public Health  and also completed her undergraduate education at the UMD, in American Studies and Eastern European History.

In addition to her responsibilities for the IRB, she serves/has served in a number of capacities across campus including two terms as an Exempt Staff Senator on the University Senate, two terms as Chair of the Student Conduct Senate Sub-Committee, and one term on the Senate Executive Committee. She also currently serves as a Title IX Advisor for the Office of Civil Rights and Sexual Misconduct. In her free time, she enjoys spending time with her growing family, playing trivia, and traveling around the world.
