IRB Analyst

Steven joined the Human Research Protection Office in June 2023 as an IRB Analyst. Prior to working at UMD, College Park, Steven served American University in Washington, D.C. for 2 years as an IRB Analyst while he pursued a master’s degree in psychology, which Steven obtained in May 2023. Steven also received a bachelor’s degree in psychology summa cum laude from Eastern Washington University in March 2021. With this background, Steven brings experience interpreting the Code of Federal Regulations (45 CFR 46) for the protection of human subjects in research across a diverse range of fields including international service, clinical/public health, communication, and education, among others. Steven’s master’s thesis explored measures of psychological well-being among transgender and gender diverse individuals, and Steven has held multiple leadership positions in institutions of higher education which advanced diversity, equity, and inclusion.
