Hana Kabashi, MA, CRA, serves as Program Manager for Limited Submissions and Faculty Funding Programs within the Division of Research at the University of Maryland, College Park. With nearly 15 years of experience in research development, grant administration, and program strategy, she leads the design, oversight, and continuous improvement of institutional nomination and internal funding processes across federal, foundation, and university-sponsored programs.
Hana oversees high-volume limited submission competitions and internal seed funding initiatives, ensuring equitable, transparent, and strategically aligned review practices. Her work includes competition design, policy interpretation, reviewer recruitment and engagement, rubric development, bias mitigation strategies, score normalization analysis, and the preparation of decision-ready materials for senior research leadership. She partners closely with deans, ADRs, department chairs, and faculty to align funding opportunities with institutional priorities and strengthen nominee positioning.
In addition to managing competitive funding cycles, Hana develops operational frameworks, SOPs, and systems that support efficiency, compliance, and cross-campus coordination. She has established guidelines for limited submissions, faculty recognition programs, competitive intelligence analysis, and the evaluation of research centers and institutes.
With academic training in history and gender theory and a background in interdisciplinary, mixed-methods research, Hana brings both analytical rigor and strategic systems-thinking to research development. She is particularly committed to strengthening faculty support structures, enhancing institutional research resilience, and elevating the university’s national and foundation-facing visibility.
