Allen Fawcett began as the Director of the Joint Global Change Research Institute on January 8, 2024. Previously, Dr. Fawcett was the Chief of the Environmental Protection Agency’s Climate Economics Branch, which conducts EPA’s domestic and international climate policy analyses. He worked with the State Department and White House supporting international climate negotiations and led the Agency’s analyses of Waxman-Markey and other cap-and-trade legislation. Allen played a leading role in the Stanford Energy Modeling Forum and served on the Advisory Council for the Integrated Assessment Modeling Consortium. Allen previously served as the Deputy Associate Director for Energy & Climate at White House Council on Environmental Quality (CEQ). Allen received his Ph.D. in Economics from the University of Texas.
