Laboratory Operations and Safety Committee (LOSC)

The Laboratory Operations and Safety Committee (LOSC) is a forum for the discussion of laboratory safety issues, especially chemical safety issues, that affect the University of Maryland research and teaching communities. The LOSC works to improve communication among ESSR and laboratory researchers. It provides guidance and oversight in areas not covered by other oversight committees (areas including hazardous chemicals and processes, hazardous waste, and physical and electrical hazards in laboratories). As appropriate, the LOSC formulates and recommends guidelines and policies to the VPR, the RSOC, and the other university safety committees.
