Pontificia Universidad Católica de Chile is one of the six Catholic Universities existing in the Chilean university system and one of the two Pontifical Universities in the country, along with the Pontifical Catholic University of Valparaíso. It is also one of Chile's oldest universities and one of the most recognized educational institutions in Latin America. According to the QS Ranking, its Faculty of Law ranks 38th in the world, and its Faculty of Education ranks 33rd worldwide. It was ranked 1st university in Latin America in 2018 according to the same QS ranking.
 

About the Partnership:

The University of Maryland (UMD) and Pontificia Universidad Católica de Chile are both members of the Universitas 21 global network, and participate in U21's Researchers Collaborators Group. The UMD BRAKE team has previously visited Pontificia Universidad Católica de Chile in Santiago to deliver workshops on the UC campus. The two universities established a pilot seed grant program to support research collaborations, including projects on civic engagement and public service, language and literacy in science, and parent-child interventions to promote healthy behavioral changes.
