Mission Statement

“To support groundbreaking research at one of the world’s premier research institutions by providing excellent and compassionate animal care through effective communication, reliability, consistency, and dedication.”

 

Our mission is to provide the best possible animal care, veterinary services and technical services in support of animal research at the University of Maryland. We assist faculty, staff and students involved in research projects by providing information, training, assistance, guidance and support on proper methods, techniques, and unique biological needs of all species used.

Our efforts will provide for the scientific needs of our investigators and for the health and well-being of the animals while complying with all federal and university regulations, policies and guidelines. We are an essential and valued component of animal research by faculty researchers at the University of Maryland.
We are a fully accredited institution with the Association for Assessment and Accreditation of Laboratory Animal Care (AAALAC) since 2011.
